Winston S. Churchill
My passion for horses began as a young child when my older sister was given a horse when I was 8 years old. Once I learned how to ride, I became motivated to teach children about these amazing animals!
I began learning how to train horses when I entered high school and later decided that I wanted to study horse training in college. I now own a 19 year old Morgan mare that I moved from Vermont 2 years ago. I have trained her to be well rounded in both Western and English but have enjoyed teaching her Western Dressage the most.
My interest in dog training began with the previous dog I owned. She was a Labrador/Golden Retriever mix who had a lot of bad manners as a young puppy! I spent time reading about how to train dogs and became fascinated with dog training as time went on. I currently own a Blue Heeler mix that I recently rescued and plan to train to do agility.
Beginner Riding Lessons
These private beginner lessons are for children ages 5 to 17. They teach the basics of how to get a horse to walk, halt, and trot on command using gentle methods that strive to encourage leadership whilst creating a beautiful partnership. They will start out riding in a Western saddle but can change to an English saddle if interested. Students will learn the distinct cues of the discipline they choose to ride, whether that be Western or English. My lessons are insured through Markel and my safety standards include safety signs, barn rules, fenced arena, covered viewing area, liability waiver, helmet, and appropriate footwear.
Prices: $50 for an hour lesson and special pricing for
5-Week and 8-Week lesson packages!
Ground Lessons
These lessons are excellent for a group of students since they do not include riding. Below are examples of the progression ground lessons will take as they advance in their skills. They will start out learning how to halter and lead a horse followed by how to groom and tack up. They will also learn about parts of the horse, colors, and breeds. In addition, they will learn how to ask a horse to go forward into different gaits, change direction, and “join up” with no lead line attached. Lastly, they will learn about caring for a horse including feeding, common ailments, first aid, and hoof care.
Prices: $30 for an hour lesson and $15 for half hour.

Horses
My knowledge of riding started early on when I had the opportunity to take riding lessons in Western, Dressage, and Hunt Seat throughout middle and high school. I also began training horses in high school which included an abused pony and a Canadian Thoroughbred. I went on to intern with a local trainer before going to college and earning my degree in Equine Studies from Asbury University. During those years I was able to learn from guest natural horsemanship clinicians including Ken McNabb. Along with training opportunities, I spent several summers during college teaching ground and riding lessons at a Child Evangelism Fellowship camp in NH to children ages 9 to 17. After earning my Bachelor's Degree in 2013, I trained horses in Mexico, North Carolina, and Vermont. While at two of these facilities, I taught riding lessons to students ages 5 through adult. Since moving to Louisiana, I have continued to train horses and now teach riding lessons in Franklinton.
Dogs
I have owned multiple dogs since I was a child and have always helped with their care and training.
Before moving to Louisiana, I spent 6 years training at PetSmart in Williston, Vermont as the certified Pet Dog Trainer. While there, I taught group and private classes including Puppy, Intermediate, Advanced, Trick, and Therapy!
My aim is to cater to your individual needs and make a plan to accomplish any goal you may have whether that's as simple as politely greeting guests or as advanced as creating an obedient therapy dog to share with those in your community.

I strive to incorporate my Christian faith in all areas of my life and incorporate truths of God's Word for parents that bring their children for riding lessons and desire they learn more about God.
I first realized how it is possible to use horses to teach about the Bible when I learned about Kim Meeder. She owns a ranch that uses neglected and abused horses to help heal hurting children. As a high schooler, her books inspired me to incorporate God into the ground lessons I taught as the Horse Program Director at a Christian camp in NH.
My next experience came from a horse trainer and pastor named Lew Sterrett. I watched him give a demonstration at college where he trained a wild horse while teaching us about submitting to the Lord and following His leadership in our lives.
During my college years, I also had the opportunity to train under Ken McNabb. He is a well-known professional horse trainer and strong Christian. I trained two horses for him while at college, and also spent two summers training horses on his ranch in WY. While I was there, his family bought a rundown ranch that has taken many years to fix up. It was inspiring to me that he moved to a different part of the state because of his heart for the lost in that part of WY.
Lastly, I served on a mission trip to La Paz, Mexico soon after college. One way I was able to serve was by training the horses they use for therapeutic riding lessons for kids from the area.
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.

I will not be available for horseback riding lessons or training sessions on most major holidays.
